Unfortunately they are a must in my room since I share the rest of the place with other people and my room is extremely small and doesn't have a closet. A really cheap and easy way to make these look more classy, rather than cheap and disgusting, is to just spray paint them. I decided to use Krylon ColorMaster White Ultra Flat Primer on them first just to make sure they would get an extra bond to the plastic since plastic is generally difficult to spray paint. I then followed it up with Krylon ColorMaster Gloss Paint & Primer Blue Ocean Breeze .

I also used Krylon Fusion for Plastic White Satin on the base of the plastic containers. They had been in so many random places throughout my house over the many years I had them, and they were so dirty that even wiping them down with Lysol wouldn't clean them off. The white spray paint just made them look cleaner. However, if you are using bins you recently bought or that aren't too dirty, I wouldn't bother painting the base unless you want to paint it a different color or something.

I suggest putting 2 coats of the actual color on before putting the Clear Acrylic coat just to make sure you get a great bold color. Once you've put the final Clear Acrylic coat on, let dry for about an hour before moving around or touching too much, just to ensure the spray paint properly bonds to the plastic. I moved mine into my room after about an hour but i waited at least 24 hours before actually placing items in the drawers and also tried to avoid bumping into it too hard.
